| Application |
| For best adhesion, be sure surfaces to be bonded are free from dirt, oil grease and other contaminants. Roughen the surface of polyethylene with medium grit sand paper (#40), carpet and wood do not require roughening. Clean sanding residue. Flame treat the polyethylene with a propane torch by lightly passing the flame over the area to be bonded. Specifically use the blue portion of the flame to contact the polyethylene. DO NOT burn or char it. Wipe clean with Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Acetone, Toluol or Xylene. Mix the appropriate amount of EP200 to EP200H (see ratio). Mix thoroughly. Scrape sides and bottom to ensure good mixing. Apply enough mixed EP200 to both surfaces. Usually 125 to 250 microns (.005" to 0.10") is sufficient to wet out the bonding surfaces. Clamp or hold bonding surfaces together for 6 - 8 hours. DO NOT apply excessive pressure as this may force out adhesive. Allow to cure minimum 16 to 24 hours prior to use. |
